2003 lexus gs 300...tape deck adapter keeps ejecting?

i have a 2003 lexus gs 300 and am using a sony tape deck adapter to play my ipod. sometimes it works and sometimes it just ejects. should i find a different tape deck adapter or is there something i can use other then an fm transmitter.
