2003 Jeep Liberty Renegade A/C clutch qt?

Recently my wife's Liberty starting having AC problems. Worked fine, then 45 mins into a trip went out. About an hour later it began to blow cold air again, only to stop shortly thereafter and has not blown cold since (a couple days). I was told that to check the a/c clutch at the front of the compressor to see if it was spinning inside the a/c clutch. After looking at it, it appears to VERY slowly start to spin, but falls back into the starting position once it reaches about 1/4 of a rotation. Is this a problem fixed by replacing the A/C clutch or more than that. Was suggested maybe the bearing of the a/c clutch had "gone out". Thanks in advance, and feel free to email me directly, [email protected]
