2003 honda civic timing belt?

We recently purchased a 2003 civic with 67k miles. I ts previous home was arizona. People at my husbands work are telling him he needs to replace the timing belt now, but the manual says 110k ?? Anyone with experience or recommendations?
 
the old school thought was to replace timing belts every 60k miles. they found out you don't need to change it till after 100k miles. your fine for another 40k miles.
I have been working on honda for over 25 years
