I have just changed the rear shoes, I did the right back side a few months ago and I looked at the left rear shoes and they seemed fine so I didnt change them. Tonight I hear a noise coming from the left rear shoes so I took them off and changed them as well, I also bought a new drum but the drum wouldnt go back on..so i had to grind the old drum and force it on the truck. I jacked up the back end and the tire wont spin while it is in drive, the one I did awhile back ago is fine, it's just the new one i replaced tonight. Could this be a wheel cylinder not letting the shoes go all the way in and is causing them to rub against the drum?

Hmm, seems like someone mixed brake parts where you had bought them from.
Yes, the wheel cylinder can prevent the shoes from going back in, if the wheel cylinder is frozen in the out position. Also, is the star wheel adjuster set correctly too? And working? That would cause it as well.

You sound like you know what your doing but,it sounds like the brake adjuster is not fully retracted or screwed back in,that's the only thing I can think of that would cause that problem. Most mechanics change both sides at the same time regardless of how they look. Also on my ranger the auto brake adjusters were worn and did not let the brakes brake together and only one side would lock up.Good luck and if you cant figure it out try a Chilton's manual as it has all the answers.

If you had to get a grinder onto the drum, their was a problem. You should never need to grind anything if its the right part.?
