put in 4 whl drive. I have a dial that says 2whl 4wdr Lo & 4whl dr Hi

Do I switch in park? or do you change the knob when you are cruising?

I only had Jeeps before they were always in 4 wheel drive
 
You can switch from 2wd to 4wd hi while moving. You must stop and shift to neutral to engage 4wd Lo.
