2003 Chevy Venture - after the battery was changed the speedometer, etc is not

working. Unlock code to blame? We have a 2003 Chevrolet Venture minivan and the battery died today. We had it replaced and now the speedometer, fuel gauge, etc are not working and the radio says "locked." The clock is working although it says the wrong time. I have been told I can take it to a Chevy dealer tomorrow and get an unlock code, but I need to drive to work tomorrow and I don't want to do that without my speedometer, auto headlights, etc... The book says it is a portion of the VIN number and I have the VIN as it is my car, but I don't know what portion. Why did changing the battery disable my speedometer, temp gauge, etc? Is this lock code the root of the problem or is something else wrong?

I am desperate and I know NOTHING about cars...
