i have a 2003 chevy impala and the car overheats when sitting in traffic (especially when the a/c is on). i noticed the fans were not coming on so i had a new fan assembly put on, replaced the fan relays, and replaced the coolant temperature sensor. while replacing the coolant sensor, my mechanic noticed the water pump was leaking so i will have that replaced in the next two days. i should probably share that my check engine light code reads P0480 and P0481 which is related to the fans relays which i have replaced. so i guess my question is, will a faulty water pump cause my fans NOT to turn on? What else could be the problem? there are no leaks in the radiator. replaced thermostat last July. please help!!!!
