003 Buick Regal LS. New spark plugs / wires, and Fuel filter. Problem still persists. Car starts, and idles fine, pressing on break and gas at same time doesn't sputter or otherwise indicate a vacuum leak. For all intents and purposes the car drives fine.
However it has a complete lack of acceleration. Taking off from a stop sign takes more than a block to reach 35 MPH!! The engine doesn't sputter, or do anything abnormal, it just acts like your barely touching the gas. At first I thought maybe the petal, but when in park, pressing the gas revs the engine just fine but when in gear (D, 1, 2 or 3) pressing it the same amount barely does anything.
The only code indicated firing problem, which is why I changed the spark plugs/wire, but that didn't help.
I have not tried to floor it in reverse. I'm not sure if there is anywhere I could safely try that. I am curious as to what would happen though.
Trans. shop says the catalitic converter must be clogged and needs to be replaced. I'll find out after they install it if that was all it needed. He said that "should" fix it.. lol
