I have a 2002 Pontiac Grand AM. Lately it has been giving problems whenever I turn the AC on. When I start the engine and turn the AC on and put the car in reverse, it simply shuts down. Once I start driving, I am able to turn the AC without losing too much power, but if I come to a stop light and have the AC on, I can feel the engine losing power again and during a few occassions, the car just shuts down at the traffic light. Sometimes also, even if I don't have the AC on and I am driving, I can feel that the engine is losing power. It takes a little bit for it to get enough power to reach the desire speed. If I am driving on the highway, however, AC and engine seems to work just fine. I imagine this happens due to the fact that I am traveling at a steady speed. Does anyon have any idea what could it be? I am thinking that it could be something with the spark plugs. I had them replaced 4 months ago. My "Check engine soon light" is on again. Thank you for your time and help.
