2002 honda civic, one low beam headlight is out. highbeam works and DRL lights work? why doesnt lowbeams work?

i know that there is only one bulb for highbeam and lowbeam, so i dont understand why only lowbeams dont work. just want some info before i go and waste money on new headlight bulbs
