I only have this problem when its warm/hot outside. The RPMs will go out of control, and the check engine light will come on. Sometimes it'll just kinda have a glitch then regulate itself, sometimes the RPMs will drop to 0, and the temp gauge drops to 0 also, and check engine light stays on. I have to pull over and restart the car. It never has any problems restarting, but usually go through this same process until I get home. There are no codes being stored. I was told that it could be the ignition switch. I replaced that, but still have the same problems. its driving me crazy!!! I figured someone out there must have had this issue before. Can someone please help me?????
