2002 Dodge Neon Codes: Further help is needed please?

I have a 2002 dodge neon and I have a check engine light. Did the code read by cycling the key 3 times and I get the following codes:
1684: Battery disconnected within the last 50 starts (not a problem)
0442: evaporative emission control leak (minor)
0455: evaporative emission control leak (gross)

Every post that I have read has told me to check the gas cap. I have replaced the gas cap and disconnected the battery to reset the codes and they came back. What is the next step in fixing this problem? I disconnected the battery because after several months of the check engine light still being on (because I know that the light wont turn off that quickly, it needs several start/stop cycles to reset on its own) Please help because the online posts don't say what to check/change after the gas cap.
Also, if you can answer this, How can I have a minor and a gross leak?
