2002 lesabre custom. Driving 20-30 minutes, hear a click and engine died, battery light comes on, engine tries to turn over but doesn't - Replaced alternator, jumped car, worked fine for a day to and from work (1 hour commute each way). Next day, driving 20 -30 minutes, hear a click and engine died, battery light comes on - took just replaced alternator (used) for test along with battery, Alternator failed & Battery passed. Purchased new alternator - everything seemed fine after replacement, car started right up with no jump (battery charged from test). Next day, driving 20 -30 minutes, hear a click and engine died, battery light comes on, tries to turn over but doesn't and still have lights and such until battery is drained. I had to be towed from the same exact spot three times in one week!!! And I mean the SAME EXACT SPOT! Haven't had this alternator tested (brand new one) yet so not sure if it is bad. Battery Cable and other connector on Alternator appear to be visually ok. Battery was disconnected during both replacements. Can something be causing the alternator to get damaged? Where do I go from here? Is it the PCM or even maybe some kind of security problem that is shutting the engine down (wire in the steering column?) - a wire harness issue? Help please!!
