2002 Acura rsx type s. Is it my transmission?

I was driving down a road and when i went to shift up and then i couldnt shift anymore. my shifter was really loose and it wouldnt shift.
I was just woundering if it was my tranmission or what part of my transmission and how much it would take to fix.

It could be as simple as the linkage on your shifter is broken or has come loose.
