Hi Everyone,
I need help. My car died a couple weeks ago and I have no idea what it might be! I'll tell you the symptoms and please can somebody help me diagnosis it?
Well I was on a road trip and about an hour outside of my town. My car was not showing ANY signs of acting up at all. I pulled off on an exit to ask for directions (because I was lost trying to find an exit to a lake to visit my friend who was camping), and my oil light flashed on for only a second then turned right back off. I was confused because I had gotten my oil changed only three or so weeks before. Anyways, my oil light flashed on for a second and then my car just died as I was trying to turn right off of the exit ramp. I pulled off to the shoulder and wondered if maybe I was running low on oil? My car would not turn back on. I checked the oil and suckered a young man to help me out, but my oil level was fine! So I got the car towed back to my home, where it has just been sitting in my driveway. When I turn the car on now, IT RUNS but has a cla-clunk cla-clunk cla-clunk along with the running engine. I definitely don't feel comfortable driving it anyway and can't particularly afford to bring it to a machanic just yet. Here are some of the things my friends and family say it might be:
The tie-rod inside the engine
a thrown bearing
a timing chain
or a loose rocker arm
I know that none of you can actually hear the noise, but I hope I was descriptive enough to give you an idea of my problem. It runs and clunks with every turning of the engine. Can somebody tell me what it MIGHT be? I can't find a mobile machanic
2001 Mazda Protege ES 2.0 Liter / 4 cylinder...
I should probably mention the repairs I have done on the car lately (which is a piece of junk car, by the way)...
--Alternator
--Clutch
--Radiator
--Transmission
--Catalytic Converter (a week and a half before the breakdown)
--And I did have my oil changed, like I said, about 3 weeks earlier.
So many damn repairs and the car KEEPS crapping out on me. I know some of you will tell me to sell it, but I still owe $2500 on it, and I'VE PRACTICALLY REBUILT THE ENTIRE ENGINE. It's pretty much a new car now. Thank you all for any help!!
