2001 jeep grand cherokee problem starting.?

When you try and start the car it will turn over until you let off the key, hit the key again and it will turn over then start but sputter and die then the third time it will start and sputter and then run normal. When you put it in gear and take off normal and drive normal it seems to do fine but when you hit passing gear or floor it on takeoff it seems like its having a problem getting fuel. When this problem first started I changed the fuel filter and today I changed the spark plugs. Still no better. Once you get it started and running good and then you kill it, it starts up fine normally everytime until it sits for an extended period of time and then the process starts all over. Can anyone help me out with this problem? Thanks
