2001 Ford Focus Radio problem.?

My Radio in my Focus was working fine when I first got it, but it suddenly quit. I purchased a new Radio system and it doesn't work either. I think its a car problem and not a radio problem. I've read that it could be a fuse or wiring problem. Don't know if its relevant, but the security light ( The light above the radio that blinks) only blinks when the engine is off, I know it used to blink all the time. The light on the radio/behind the numbered buttons also blinks when the engine is off and stops when it's started.

check all fuses, and look in the manual for other fuse boxes( ford likes to hide them)

i dont know if the security light is relevant, however if have a "techy" friend the can tell if voltage is getting to the radio, that would be a major step, because then it could mean that a wire is broken or cut, or that a fuse is blown

if the security light is a factor, the radio may be in theft protect mode. they put thses on incase your radio is stolen, the thief cant use it. disconnecting the batt, a dead batt or a loose fuse could put in protect mode. a ford dealership can tell u if this the problem or not and fix it
