2001 Ford Focus coolant problem.?

Hello I have a 2001 ford focus and lately the water in the resavor is going down half way when I have only driven maybe 14 miles round trip (to work) the heater is working ok and the tempature gauge is in the middle and does not indicate overheating and I see no leaks anywhere.Seems like the water only dissapears after I drive it.Can anyone give me an idea before I have to take it to a shop?Thanks.....
 
yep, go 2 trips and see if its down more, laterz, in other words, it may be normal, can doesnt need to be full, as long as it stays balanced, no problem, normal.see on a closed system, the water heats and causes pressure, it forces coolant out of the radiator to make room for the cooland forced from the circulating system.that forces water out of the resevoir. now if it keeps going down as in almost empty, maybe you have a proble,, use compressed air to blow out the radiator, and check all line for signs of leakage,
