My Ducati 996 has a hard starting issue that is sometimes so difficult that the bike won’t start. It seems to get worse as the bike heats up. If I get it started and warmed up it runs great with no fuss (no problems). If I run it without being completely warmed up it has a tendency to stall right when I take off from a stop. Then most of the time it’ll start back up OK if it is in neutral, but is harder to start in gear w/ the clutch pulled in. This is what I have checked out or replaced in the past 4 weeks: Checked Relays for tank, fuel pump, / engine management, new Dragon plug wires, fixed regulator plug (was burned up), new battery.
