In the beginning of summer of 2008 I noticed my Air Conditioning on my truck wasn't blowing cold. So I went out and purchased a bottle of R-134a and refilled the system since it was very low. It stayed cold for a couple of weeks until it was low again. So I established that there was a leak in my system. So I went out and got some stop leak with leak detector to try to figure out where the leak would be. Didn't see any dye leaking anywhere and the system eventually was empty about 2 weeks after that. Then summer was over and I kinda brushed it aside. A couple of weeks ago I filled the system up again and the compressor doesn't even kick on anymore. I ran a wire from the battery to the compressor to see if there was a fuse blown but the compressor still didn't kick on. Also the compressor makes a lot of noise. I am some what educated with cars and such, but know nothing about A/C systems. What do I need to do to take care of it? If it is the compressor, can I replace it myself? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
