2001 Chevy Tracker air conditioning stopped working. What could it be?

I have a 2001 Chevy Tracker. Yesterday I was driving down the interstate, and I pushed the a/c button, but no cold air came out. I turned it off and back on, and it worked. I turned it off again, then back on, and now it doesn't blow out cold air anymore.

When I push the button, the condenser fan turns on like normal. How can I tell if the pump is kicking in like it should? Do you think I just need a recharge? Does 134a run out suddenly like that?

Thanks.

You first have to determine if the A/C clutch is engaging or not. To do this , look at the compressor with the engine running and have someone cycle the A/C switch. Does the clutch at the front of the compressor engage or not? If not, you have two possibilities one the system is too low on freon to engage because the low pressure limiter switch is protecting the system. Two the clutch has failed. In either event, you need to see a qualified technician to resolve this issue.
