So i lost my original key for my 2000 Toyota Avalon about 2 years ago. Have been using spare key up until a couple weeks ago: had issues with the key sticking in ignition. Went to the Dealer who charges $50.00 for key (said the key is old and worn out) . New key issued but car shut off. Went back to the dealer who said the key had to be programmed paid another $50.00. Was told today that because it is not the original key I will always
have the same problem and in order to prevent this from happening it will cost me $1,500 for the car to be reprogrammed to the new key issued. Is this right? Can someone please give me another alternative as the car will be paid off in 4 months. Help!
