I have a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am with a 3.4 litre engine. It has a check engine light on. The code is PO1404. I replaced the EGR valve with no luck. I don't have a scanner to see live data. I do know that the EGR valve has 12 volts at the red wire going to the egr valve connector. I also know it has a good ground at the brown wire, It does have 5 volt reference from the computer. Any ideas about this problem. When I replaced the egr valve I noticed a lot of carbon build up in the throttle body area so I cleaned it. I was concerned that the pintle valve wasn't closing because of the carbon build up.
