how does the torque converter work in this car? what makes it "lock" and "unlock" because i think it, or a sensor has been going bad, making it engage, disengage, or slip, but recently, it has "locked" and shifts and works fine, but always tries to pull forward, and reverse wont work, put it in neutral, it pulls forward, reverse, doesnt work, it just sits there, you can feel it working against its self, and park, it trys to go forward( but doesnt because its park) the car used to shake when taking off in first, and shifting into 2nd. i thought it was the transmission, but now, it just goes, no problem whatsoever, like a perfectly working transmission, spins the tire etc, but, it wont unlock, like i said it shifts through every gear perfect, works fine, but what i already said. could it be a sensor? or is it the torque converter going bad? like i said it doesnt slip or anything at all anymore, but wont "disengage" what could be the cause, and fix for this. thanks!
basically, in a nutshell, it would shake in 1st and 2nd, only the beginning of the gear, then the car sometimes wouldnt move in drive or reverse, let it sit, it would work, still shaking sometimes, then, it gets "stuck" in gear, shifts through all the gears, perfect, no shaking, no slip, nothing, just will not stop pulling, even in reverse and park.(not excessive, just like its in drive)

can anyone explain how the torque converter locks and unlocks, how it works for reverse and drive.
and could this just simply be a problem with the transmission.(i would still like to know about the torque converter etc.
could it be the solenoid for the transmission, because rrandomly it would stop pulling in every gear, and work again randomly
