I have a 2000 mazda mpv 2.5l 24v dohc. Ok so ive never had to time four cams before so here we go. I have alldata manual. ive set the chains exactly to the specs three times!! whats happening is i try to start it and it fires out the intake. well what started this job is i had a blown head gasket. so i had the heads resurfaced but nothing done to the valves. im at a complete loss on whats happening. ive set it to tdc and set the cam gears perfectly. is there something im doing wrong? what else could it be??? im so deep in this car right now and so frusturated. if anyone could help me i would appreciate it so much. please im just trying to get my family back on the road i cant afford to pay a shop. ive done this kinda work before just never ran into this problem. thank you and god bless.

Sounds like you have the engine set 180 degrees out of time. Set the engine at TDC then remove the timing chains. Rotate the engine 180 degrees with a wrench on the crankshaft pulley then install the timing chains according to spec.
Remember that the #1 piston is at TDC on compression and also at exhaust.
