The battery is new so I don't think that is the problem. This morning it wouldn't start the first two times I tried, then it did. When I went to drive it back the same thing happened. Tonight it took like 10 minutes of trying to get it to start.

When I put the key in the lights come on, the radio plays, and the heat starts to work. When I turn the key I hear one clicking noise then nothing. After a few minutes of trying it worked though. I don't want to have to keep trying in case it is the starter - I need to be able to make the hour and a half trip home soon to get it looked at.

Any one have any ideas? If you know what it could be, how should I test for that problem?

Thanks :-)

I don't think it's the starter because when it actually starts, it fires right up. It never sounds like it's straining or anything. It either just clicks once or starts normally. It tends to click once though.

Would jump starting it work if I can't get it to start with the key? Or should I not bother?

I filled the gas tank two days ago.

It will probably be the battery and cold weather or a starter issue and maybe even a solenoid either on the firewall or starter. The cost shouldn't be over 130.00. Have a parts store test load the battery and check the starter. They usually do that for free at places like Advance, Autozone etc.

Again, load test the battery, (which is the cheapest) then have them check the solenoid. (which is the second cost. The starter is usually the most expensive to change. The fuel and tank have nothing to do with it. My guess is the solenoid.
