2000 HONDA CIvIC EXHAUST QUESTION?

Hello..... I really hope someone can help me with this. I need to know the name of the part, underneath the car in the center, that looks like it's the piece that joins/connects the exhaust pipe coming from the front of the car (the hood) to pipe going to the rear of the car (muffler) I need to know, because this piece is apparently rusting out a bit and is making a TON of noise (rattling) it's so embarassing :( and I have to replace it.I know, it's confusing, but I'm sure anyone that knows about mechanics/exhaust systems will know what I'm talking about!
 
It may be your Catalytic Converter. If that is what your are describing and if it is that and it is rattling you should replace that ASAP!

=) Hope this helps. You can take it to an exhaust shop and they can test it for you. If you want you can go to auto zone and get a universal one like I did but I plan on getting a magna-flow one soon makes it sound a lot better.
