2000 Ford Taurus Flex no spark no start!?

I'm working on a 2000 Ford Taurus Flex that doesn't start. Fuel system checked out OK, and upon checking the spark - there is no spark. The car has 59K. There are no codes stored in the computer to read. There is no RPM's when cranking either but don't know if the engine is spinning fast enough to register on the gauge. I was thinking either the crankshaft sensor (but there would be a code in the computer, no?) or the ICM. The battery was unhooked for about 15 minutes for the terminals to be cleaned prior to the codes being checked, would this have cleared them? Any suggestions on this frustrating situation? Much obliged! -----Dani B.
I thought it was TFI, and I thought they weren't used on Fords in 2000? I will get a new ICM and crankshaft sensor and see what happens...Wish me luck :)
