2000 ford ranger 4.0. sputters when i push gas.?

well there is a few things that can be wrong depending on when you replaced the plugs and wires make sure all connections are secure first. but it sounds like it can be of a mass air flow sensor problem. the mass air flow sensor is the sensor connected to the air filter tube goin into the intake.... it could also be a EGR valve problem which is a little harder to diagnose. try taking it to your nearest autozone they can do a free scan check.....good luck

sound like you need a good tune up and have you changed air and fuel filters recenlty?? have experienced this as a direct reuslt of these items

Sounds like an air/fuel mix problem. Really need to do a diag. As suggested earlier, go to autozone and run the codes. The codes will give you some clues, but not the answer. The MAF could be the problem and is easy to check. However, you need a Torx driver that has a hole in the end. Sorry...I am getting complicated now, aren't I? Start with a code check and go from there.

IMHO...it is not the plugs or the wires. It's a mixture problem.
