2000 dodge neon burning smell?

hello answers, i have a 2000 plymouth neon luxury my power steering pump is broke car is unaffected other than the muscles my lil female arms are getting i just had the oil changed and the filter and all that good stuff i drove 250 miles 1 rest stop break made it on a full tank still had a quarter tank when i arrived now the next day i started to smell a strong burning smell so i checked my oil it was bone dry so was that the smell of the oil burning the lil bit that's in there so i shot over to wally world put 3 quarts of pennzoil 10-30 ( didn't have a funnel was very careful but i did spill some started the car let the oil run thru revved it a lil then when i turned my heat on the smell intensified so im lost i really need help i dont have money for someone to check it out so im trying to provide as much detail as possible btw its a 4 cylinder automatic fw drive so please someone help me i need to make it home safe thanks so much for reading
