Hi, I have a 2000 BMW 540i Sport with 106,000 miles on it. The car has been babied, mostly. It looks brand new.
However, my check engine light has come on. I know it needs a service, the spark plugs are original, but they're rated for 100,000 miles, so I'm only 6k miles over.
The issues I'm experiencing are:
Poor acceleration, it's almost like I'm driving a car with a turbo, it starts off slow, but then BAM, it goes like the wind.
There's a slight rattle under the hood when I'm taking off, but not when I'm driving.
I've stopped driving the car for now, and am taking it in to get it diagnosed tomorrow. I'm just asking this question to see what the problems could be, so I can sort of anticipate what I'll be paying for, etc...
