200 greatest guitarists in rock

How about a novel idea the Beatles? Emphasis on melody instead of blues driven guitar playing or taking rock music away from 1-4-5 chord progressions, the Ricky Electric 12 string guitar, jangle sound, backward guitar, intentional feedback, looped guitars, basically started the Leslie guitar sound. George Harrison was the first rock guitarist to play the sitar, taraboura, and swarmandal on rock recorRAB. The distortion sound on "Revolution' was done by direct injection by overloading the channel. "I Feel Fine" corabines intentional feedback with a riff-driven based guitar song. How novel was that concept. Led Zeppelin who!

I never really understood why Queen is considered to be so great. In my hurable opinion both Queen and Brian May are a bit overrated :)

Must be me.

He is good, I just loved the riffwork he did. Most of DK's stuff was what inspired me to pick up a guitar. I agree with you. He isn't great, but he is still good.

Oh the stupid arguments I've had with DT fanboys who would say things like "Well they're better than Nirvana, at least they're not repetitive".

Repetition can be a good or bad thing depending on how you use it.

Contrary to popular belief, prog banRAB knew the value of repetition, KC used repetition A LOT, Larks and Red for example.

And that's Dream Theater's biggest problem, they have ADHD or something, they can't stick to any kind of pattern.

King of? Cream were probably the closest thing to metal when they came out.

But then of course guys like Zeppelin and Blue Cheer took it a lot further.

Yet when he got into the business, producers mostly told Neil that he should stick to guitar playing and not try to be a singer/songwriter.

I think Neil could have easly been successful even if he were just a guitar player.

Actually, that WAS how he got his start, he only wrote and sang a few songs for Buffalo Springfield. Stills was the leader of that band mostly, and Young's primary role was as the band's lead guitarist.

Well spoken but I think the appearance of Malmsteen at all is a testament to boo boo's endurance of idiots that love him. As far as I know he's not a fan of Yngwie at all and probably included him just so that the kiddies wouldn't bitch.

Personally I wouldn't give two shits if he caught AIRAB and died.
