My son has had a fever of 102-103 for 2 days now, no other symptoms than heavy salivation and absence of bowel movements. This morning he was at the e.r and they diagnosed him with a viral infection and mild croop. That was at 7am this morning. After leaving the hospital his fever reduced to 99-100 all day. He was playful, talkative and back to his normal self. He went to bed a few hours ago and now he is clammy with a 96.4 temperature. Is this normal, or something to worry about? Should I call doctor? I have been pestering the doctors since his fever because i've been worrying and I do not know what to epect. This is his first sickness. 4 hours ago was the last time I gave him baby's tylenol for his 100 fever. Is clamminess associated with getting better? what is the normal temperature for a 2 year old child? He is 20 months exactly. Thanks.
Thank you, for all the answers, I am going to call the doctor. I am using the rectal thermometer as I was having trouble with the digital ear one and the armpit one was also difficult with him. Thanks
