These are 2 questions I need to answer, but they're really nebulous, and I'm having a hard time figuring them out. Please provide any insight you can, regardless of how small it is. I don't need you to do all of the thinking for me, I just need some help getting started.
“Power is Knowledge” (a la M. Foucault).
With this in mind, analyze the relationship(s) between the Japanese
state and its people from early on up to 1868. Draw upon at least
3 historographical examples to support your thesis; consider
political, religious manifestations, and popular culture.
It has been said that the history of Japan is in fact the history of
the Imperial family.
Do you agree? Why or why not? Be sure to 1) analyze the Imperial
line’s/lines’ fortunes and influence, effectiveness, etc., from its origin
up to 1868. Then examine 2) how/why the Imperial line survived.
Was Japan better off for having the Imperials? Support your argument
with specific in-depth examples, along w/their significance.
Again, even if this is generally confusing to you, please write your thoughts (assuming you at least know a little bit about japanese history
). Even the smallest insight could help me a ton! *That's not to say I'd be angry if you put some strong analysis down though.
