The engine on a 2002 Dodge Inteprid is locked up so tight that a 20 inch breaker bar cannot rotate the engine in either direction with the spark plugs removed. I have removed the oil pan and inspected all main and rod bearings except the front two rods and front main bearing (I cannot access the bolts on these components to remove the cap). All of the bearings I have inspected look good with only normal wear (engine has 127,000 miles on it). So I do not believe that I have a spun bearing based on the face that I have inspected 75% of the bearings wiith no signs of problems. So my question is what besides a crankshaft or crankshaft bearing failure could cause an engine to lock up in both directions? Is there a possible failure in the torque converter that could cause this problem? Also of note is that the timing chain is fully engaged in its drive sprocket and appears to be tight.
Any ideas would be appreciated.
