am i looking at? I just bought this 1999 Pontiac ram air ws6 5.7L V8 edition. rear axel ratio i believe is 2.73.
When i bought it i noticed going at a constant speed, it whined really lowed. The whining started anywhere above 30 MPH and under 70 MPH, but only going a constant speed.

I also learned when i would drive on curves it would make different noise. EXAMPLE: Driving on a Curve going right, The noise would stop. But going on a curve going left, the noise would stay the same as if i were going straight.

Eventually the noise got louder.

Now the other day, when i was picking my GF up, i noticed it felt like it was skipping. Then finally it grinded out once. and caught gear again, then i chuged it home and finally the rear gave out. It continuously grinds and wont move. As soon as i let off the clutch, GRIND. Can sum1 tell me what parts possibly might have gone bad, What could have caused it, and what PRICE i can be looking at to fix it, just need a ball park figure.

My guess is, maybe axel bearing went bad, so the axel wasnt running tru, leading to the axel being offset a little throwing gears off track leading to the pinion gear teeth breaking. IDk much about rear axel assemblies pleaselet me know wats going on and thank YOU!
