I saw a 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix GT it has 155xxx on it the front left light doesnt work and the service engine light comes on everything else looks well takin car of...when I started the engine it sounded great..the dealer said id have to take it to get it tuned up but thats no big deal...the real question is how much is this car worth??also how much would it cost to get the service engine light off?? and how much would a left front light cost to fix?? and also how much you think insurance would cost for the first six month for a beginner driver?

Thanks!!!

I wouldnt pay anything for it if the check engine light is on. Best thing to do first is get the loan a tool scanner from auto zone and find out why the check engine light is on. Might find that its something very expensive. Kelly blue book states low value is $2500 high value $4000. I think it went up cause the were down to about $1500 for a GTP version (with supercharger) a few months ago. I say offer $1000 (pending the scan) and see where it goes. I wouldnt pay more than $1500 bucks. Seems like there may be more wrong with it than you think. As for fixing the light, all depends on whats wrong with it, you cant really estimate. Insurance will probably be cheap because its an older car and parts arent that expensive. Is it a 4 door? that will be a plus.

well they are really great cars. The 3.8 liter lasts forever and my beginner car is going to be a 2000 pontiacx grand prix, it will cost a couple hi=undred to fix the fron depending how big it is. If i were you, id pay around 3,000 a little more, even a little less. And the tune up should turn off the service engine soon light, if not, then fixing the left front fender should. Good luck and really good choice of a car! good luck!
