1999 jeep grand cherokee problems...?

hello, I have a 1999 jeep grand cherokee laredo and I have a few problems. first the transmission does not go into overdrive. the rpms just keep raising to the point of where it should kick into overdrive...but doesn't. what could this be? 2nd...the rear axle sounds like a rambling mess! its not the brakes cause I had them checked...but it sounds like it should be the brakes. I notice that when I turn a corner it sounds allot worse! any suggestions? thank you very much
 
Question 1 have you ever changed the Fluid in the transmission .
Question 2 Pull the plug in the rear end and see how much dope is in it it should be running out when you remove the plug. How are the tires on you rear. Also a link to help you if this doesn't http--www.2carpros.com
