1999 honda cr-v? good car? do you own one? should i buy?

i'm thinking about buying a 1999 honda cr-v with 120,000 miles on it and it going to buy it from a family member. i plan on buying it for around 3,000 it needs new tires but other then that seems to be good. Is this a good investment? i've been saving up for year now and i'm going to be 16 in may. i'm leaning towards buying it,do you have a this car and is there anything wrong with it? any problems overall good car? how many miles do they last for? lots of info would be helpful thanks a million!
 
i would not buy it. just because now it is fine, the car is 10 years old. it is going to start breaking down and it will become a hassle to keep fixing. not to mention all the money you will put in it. splurge and buy a nicer, newer one, unless your budget is only 3,000 then i guess you are just stuck with the CR-V
