Have a 99 reg ford fiesta 1.25 LX its done about 120k miles, under load it seems to overheat thought normal driving around flat roads it seems to hold the temp ok at normal even 20/30 miles on the motorway it has no issues...just when i go up a hill or roads with inclines.
When it overheats the main pipe from the radiator going to the block which the thermostat is located in (one that runs under the alternator) is colder than the rest if i manually squeeze it to get the water flowing it heats up and seems to run ok, thought testing this theory a bit more today....so i changed the thermostat and its housing and changed the fluid out thinking it was a blocked thermostat.
Still had issues again...so went for changing the water pump in case the pump was faulty and not circulating the water under pressure and still have the same issue.
I have used geninue ford parts throughout, i have done a block test also and its not showing a CO2 leak so i dont believe its a head casket given the overheating only occurs underload IE up a hill.
But i am at a loss on what to look at next and i dont think it warrants a head gasket change as its a major job and not worth putting the £'s in for that.
Wanted to throw my problem out to everyone to see if i may have missed something or someone may have another idea.
