ok i got a 1999 dodge neon DOHC 2.0L 5 spd manual tranny and have cylender 4 misfire did plugs wires coil pack catalytic and muffler n it is still there i did some dry gas and the misfire went away until i used up that tank of gas. the check engine light in on when moving and flashes when at stopped and just idling spit n sputter a little when in 1st gear and a very little bit in 2nd gear but other gears it seem fine but with loss of power.
i did that and put in new injectors
ok car has new plugs, wires, valve cover gasket, cat conv, muffler, injectors, injectors wiring, coil pack, had wires tested they are good, coil pack tested was good, could it be the grade of gas im using im using 87 octane gas and a 1999 dodge neon dohc is fc recommended to have 91 octane gas
and new timeing belt and it is timed by a shop not myself
and i burn bout a quart of oil every mnth and a half and some smoke when i step on it
not to be an ass or anything but read the details and i WILL not pay 115 an hr for it to go to a shopso ill find out the problem my own way n fix it
have OEM plugs and wires. and the valve cover gasket is new and there is no vacumme leak cheacked that already

Did you check the compression in the cylinder? A bad head gasket can cause you to lose pressure in the cylinder and cause a misfire, try not to drive it so much without fixing it because you could ruin your new cat. converter and possibly the o2 sensors.

I have been through this a number of times with my 98. I replaced the plugs and wires with Pep Boys parts a couple of times, which solved the problem temporarily. However, when the problem returned, I decided to go with Mopar factory wires, which work much better. Another issue was that there was oil pooling around one of the spark plugs, which caused a misfire. Yet a third reason was the fuel injector O-rings. If they are old and dried out, they allow air to suck in to the manifold, which also causes a misfire. I replaced all mine, and I have not had a misfire problem for nearly two years. Neons are very sensitive to spark plugs and wires. Any deviation from stock will cause problems. Don't bother with any trick spark plugs or high performance wires. Go straight to the dealer and get stock ones, and make sure the plugs are gapped correctly. Vacuum leaks are another source of misfires and check engine lights, so check all the vacuum lines for cracks or leaks. If you get the codes read off the car, you can pinpoint which cylinder is misfiring.

Listen my brother, I am gonna look out for you so you don't get screwed like I did.

Every Dodge or Plymouth Neon, recommends you change the Timing Chain and Tensioner every 80,000 miles.

Me and my good friend ignored this warning and shortly after, our valves went right into the heads of the pistons as this timing chain or tensioner eventually brakes.

Also these neons are famous for Intake Manifold leaks.

Does your car run rough when its first started?

Sometimes the leak will suck in moisture in the air.

Also the brake lines are famous for rusting. This will cause your caliper to stick and be shut while your driving. I had a few sets of hub caps melt and fly off while I was driving because the caliper got so hot. Also the valve stem on my tire melted and the tire was brand new!

Be careful and make sure you replace the brake lines, timing chain tensioner and timing chain.

Lucky for you, your intake gasket is easy to get to and shouldn't cost much.

Good luck brother

OMG we have the same problem, i was told i need to replace my spark plugs and wires, i did and it runs like new Again, if you have already changed your plugs and wires, save up money or get money out of your pocket and take it to a shop,
