My 1999 Dodge Avenger ES V6 started making a whiny sound at the top end of gears during shifting. As the problem has persisted, it has moved more into whining during acceleration in 1st and 2nd (not as bad in higher gears).
Could possibly be a torque converter issue. I have not yet removed the serpentine belt to insure it is not and alternator or water pump issue.
I know the Avengers have a history of transmission problems. I just need some advice before I drop some money on servicing.
Thanks.
