1999 dodge automatic overdrive problem?

1999 Dodge dakota 4x4 Transmission works right, until you drive it about forty minutes then if you let of the gas it will shift out of overdrive regardless of the speed resulting in high RPM then it takes a long time to shift back to overdrive.
what could be the problem?
