The electronic fuel gauage on the dash of my mother's 1999 Cadillac Deville has been malfunctioning lately but today it did something really weird..... while I was waiting forever at the traffic light.... all of a sudden the warning alarm came on and "fuel level low" warning came on with the gauge flashing "E". After the traffic light turned green, the gauge changed to "F" and the warnings stopped. As I was driving the gauged fluctuate between 18 gallons to 9 gallons. My mom is planning on taking the car to the auto shop this weekend. Any indication as to what the problem is? what part needs to be replaced and how much would that cost?
