1998 Toyota Corolla Engine?

I have a 1998 Toyota Corolla and I'm told it has a 2.4 engine. We're not quite sure what is wrong with the car but the engine might need to be replaced. Does anyone know of where the best place to get a replacement engine would be if that's what I need? And what exactly would I be looking for?
 
lol if you don't know what's wrong, how do you know the engine needs to be replaced?

it could just be a simple repair. would you rather repair it for a few hundred or get a new engine for a few thousand? get it diagnosed first. a new engine should always be a last resort...unless if your looking for more power or something.
