Just wanted to say hello to all the touring riders.I just picked up a Road King Police.Ive been riding a sportster for a while and wanted a bigger machine.I couldn't afford a brand new model so I bought the Police bike. She runs great, needs a little work but thats ok I enjoy working on bikes and plan on making her mint.I've been looking over some of the posts and have gotten alot of info. Thanks

Welcome to the touring forum. The 98 EVO's were the best of the breed, damn near bulletproof. Only weak spot was the INA cam bearing. Good way to go. I was seriously looking at 98 RK's myself until I ran across a good deal on a 02.

Here's a picture of the back of the bike.It seems to just have two extra brake-running lights. The bike has some wiring issues that I'm taking care of.Theres some wire harneess and switch's that dont seem to do anything. The passing lights stay on even with high beam's on.I allready took off the radio mount bar and moved the seat air tank to the right side bag, also put the tilt down tag mount on.I really like this bike and cant keep my hands off her.

Same thing here. I've always assumed it's part of the civilian conversion andgot used to it. I didwire-tie/heat-shrinksome of the wire & loose harnesses better.I really like the passing lights on all the time.

Looks great -- congrats on a nice move "up" from the Sportster. I've just done the same -- looked at several Police Kings, but ended up buying an '01 RK Classic. Without exception, though, all of the Police bikes were well taken care of and looked great. No doubt you'll love it. As great as the Sportster is, you're going to find the RK so much more comfortable on the road and at higher speeds.

I'm looking to put chrome control covers on my 98 FLHRP but still have all the police switches on it. They dont work as the police sirens etc have been removed but all the buttons and switches are still there and some day I;d like to use them for somthing. I'm sick of the ugly black!!
Also wonder about other parts when I order from JP Cycle. Nobody seems to put FLHRP as a fitment.
