1998 Jeep Cherokee Sport Keyless entry remotes batteries run down in about two weeks?

The batteries appear to be shorting out. I have read that there is a way to prevent this by applying a spray. I can see no physical shorting when the case is open. Can this problem be solved without buying replacements?
