1998 jeep cherokee sport 2dr?

i just got a 4.5" RC suspension lift put in and i drove about 150 km on the highway and my engine light came on so i took it to a shop to get it looked at and they said my O2 sensor was burnt out on the exhaust befor the cat i was wondering if that would cause the engine to idle shitty ? thanks
