The I6 engine in my cherokee seems to be misfiring after it starts and when put into reverse. The engine sounds somewhat more uneven in firing and seems to have hills and valleys in torque when reversing (ie the RPM jumps up to say 2K then down to 1K then back up to 2 then back to 1.)
A buddy of mine says its a transmission problem. however i suspect it is an alternator and or computer issue.
Also the dummy light says 5th cylinder circuit open when i pull the codes for it. It also smells like a fuel leak when i put it in reverse. however when i put it in drive and get the RPMs up it runs fine, even at idle in drive.
