1998 Ford Explorer 4.0L sohc V-6 Cam shaft position sensor?

Replaced Camshaft position sensor due to check engine light and OBD2 code PO340 present. after 2 weeks the light is back on with the same code. Do I need to reset the code with the scanner to remove the code from the computer. intially i just disconnected the battery to replace the the sensor and light went off with no codes present. Any Suggestions ?
 
If the light came back on after two weeks then either the new sensor is bad (not very likely) or there is in intermittent break in the wire harness going to the cam sensor. When the engine revs it moves a bit and might tug on the harness in just the right way.
